located in Clarksville, Virginia. Our aim is to enrich the lives of others with a musical experience through Jazz. We will bring local Jazz information to you, by posting upcoming events and providing links to regional Jazz sites. The 2010 Jazz by the Lake brings lovers of Jazz to Clarksville, Virginia once again.
- from 4:30 until dusk on both days at Route 58, Clarksville, VA.
This years headliners include:
Jazz vocalist and Peggy Lee tribute artist Peggy Alee has sung at the Las Vegas Desert Inn, Andy Williams’ Club 76 in Branson, Missouri, and Carnival Cruise Line concerts. She has recently completed a 24 city tour of the United States with the Marriott corporation.

The Decatur Street Beat Dixieland Band from Chapel Hill, NC, plays fun, exhilarating, all acoustic Dixieland music and specialize in New Orleans-style Dixieland music - New Orleans Jazz at its finest.
Jazz pianist, professor & Downbeat magazine award-winning composer Monika Herzig has performed at the Indy Jazz Fest, Louisville’s Jazz Factory, the W.C.Handy Festival, Jazz in July in Bloomington and Cincinnati, Columbus’ Jazz & Rib Fest. Groups under her leadership have toured Germany, opened for acts such as Tower of Power, Sting, the Dixie Dregs, Yes, and more.

IF YOU GO
Jazz by the Lake starts 4:30 p.m. at the Occoneechee State Park amphitheater overlooking Buggs Island Lake. The park is situated a half mile east of the quaint town of Clarksville, Va., on U.S. 58.
Bleacher seating is available, or bring your own chair or blanket, and enjoy a musical outing in this picturesque lakefront setting.
You may pack a picnic lunch or purchase refreshments from an on-site vendor. As a special treat this year, Japanese selections have been added to the menu. The event is family friendly.
Admission is free, but the park charges a $5 per car parking fee. For more information, call the park at 434-374-2210.
Jazz rain or shine
The sixth annual Jazz by the Lake festival at Occoneeche State Park, U.S. 58 east of Clarksville, will run from 4:30 until dark on Saturday, May 15, and Sunday, May 16 rain or shine. If the weather looks threatening, park staff will put up tents.
Jazz by the Lake is presented by Occoneechee State Park and the Southside Virginia Jazz Society.
